Universal Soldier On!

Van Damme and Lundgren take their old man fight directly on DVD!

You’ve probably seen Jean-Claude Van Damme’s super-warrior flick Universal Soldier. You’ve maybe seen the film’s sequel Universal Soldier: The Return and we hope you haven’t seen the made-for-TV spin-offs Universal Soldier: Brothers in Arms or Universal Soldier: Unfinished Business. (Although those last two did both feature Burt Reynolds at the CIA Deputy Director. So… there’s that.)

All that being said, you should totally check out the franchise’s newest direct-to-DVD entry Universal Soldier: Regeneration, released just yesterday, because it reunites Van Damme with his original Soldier nemesis, Dolph Lundgren! Admit it: You didn’t even know both of them were still alive.

Check out the trailer to understand this new film’s “plot.” A summary: Scientists are once again turning soldiers into unstoppable ass-kicking machines, and they’ve created an uber-warrior played by former UFC champ Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski who’s intent on blowing up Chernobyl. (No word on how he plans to blow up a nuclear facility that has already blown up.) Regardless, Van Damme is revived to stop Arlovski. And Lundgren is revived to stop Van Damme!

The only thing we can guarantee will not be revived is either of the stars’ careers.
