The universe got a little bit smaller when Hold Up Art in downtown LA announced their special Star Wars themed night, Art From a Galaxy Far Far Away. We wouldn't miss a show like this, and neither should you. The first lucky attendee on opening night on Saturday, August 20 to say "GeekChicLA sent me!" at the door will receive a copy of featured artists Randy Martinez and Denise Vasquez’s book, Sketch Card Mania.

Over two dozen of Martinez's illustrations and paintings will be melted out of carbonite and made public for the first time at this event. And with his work featured on Star Wars books and Topps trading cards, Martinez is no rookie to this Empire of a franchise. Mixing up the formula for what makes great pop-art, Vasquez's "Dia De Los Muertos" Darth Vader mask confirms that she’s an out of this world, out of the box vinyl toy artist. We suggest using your lightsaber to activate these glow in the dark 3D pieces.

You don't have to go to Mos Eisley Cantina for a drink; opening night provides beer, wine and other refreshments. And like Darth Vader in Empire Strikes Back, Martinez, Vasquez and GCLA would be honored if you would join us.
