Con-Caution

When Geeks Attack: Comic-Con 2010

"Only watch yourself. This place can be a little rough." -Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Most of the time, comic book villains can be counted on to stay locked away in the pages of the funny books. This year, there were early indications that people might be packed in just a little too tight. Here, along with our highlights, are a few causes for Con-caution.

Coolest Preview Footage:
Tron: Legacy, hands down. Lightcycles v2.0 are so cool, we want one BEFORE we get our flying car.

Best Surprise Appearance:

Pretty pirate panties tied themselves in sailor knots all over the con when Captain Jack Sparrow made a surprise filmed appearance. Jack indicated his next adventure will take him to The Fountain of Youth. Or not.

Greatest Geek-In-Disguise:
We spotted Nathon Fillion (Firefly, Castle) sneaking around the con floor incognito wearing a fake mustache and nerdy blazer. We're not sure it's fair that a brutally handsome starpilot can masquerade as a geek in public when it doesn't seem to work the other way around.

Best Geek Uprising:

When a sad handful of Fred Phelps' zany zealots protested Comic-Con, they were met by a counter-protesting gaggle of geeks who proudly picketed against stupidity.

Lowest Lowlight:

A Harry Potter fan went all Voldemort on a fellow attendee when he tried to stab him in the eye with a pen over a seat dispute. Unsurprisingly, his cries of "Forgetticus!" did not phase the members of the SFPD who apprehended him.
