One ‘Hell’ of a Hangover!
Leave it to Hellboy to raise the bar this Cinco de Mayo
Hellboy has squared off with some of the most horrifying
monsters the denizens of Hell could possibly throw at him. But this Cinco de
Mayo (that's today, May 5, for all you gringos out there), he’ll face
a demon no one has ever been able to
conquer: too much tequila.
So before you start stocking up on Coronas and nacho dip for your
Cinco-themed celebrations today, be sure to swing by your local comic shop and
grab a copy of Hellboy in Mexico (Or, A
Drunken Blur), an all-new one-shot Hellboy tale written by Mike Mignola
with art by Richard Corben. In it, Hellboy joins forces with a team of
vampire-killing Luchadores, and
quickly finds himself in heated battles with zombies, evil turkeys, a Bat God,
and, as the title suggests, way too much tequila.
“Hellboy in Mexico
is something that I had on my mental shelf,” explains Mignola on the genesis of
this off-the-wall project. “It’s fantastic, and it’s really, really odd. It’s
probably one of the goofiest, but at the same time, saddest Hellboy stories
I’ve done. This story is, if nothing else, the origin of Hellboy’s first really
long drinking binge.”
But the Hellboy fun doesn’t stop there: Be sure to check out this
summer’s massive slate of Hellboy and BPRD comic book adventures at
