Now With Bonus Hurley!
Everything you need to know about the last Lost DVDs
All good things must end. Lost is apparently so good that it gets to come to
multiple endings. But today marks the end of the ends. We think.
Unless you’ve been stranded in a hatch on a deserted island
typing in a sequence of numbers every 108 minutes—hey, it happens—you know that
today you can buy the DVD sets Lost: The Final Season and Lost: The Complete Collection. Both compilations contain the most exciting extra: a 12-minute
series epilogue, which is the finale for Lost that comes right after the series finale of Lost. The coda finds Ben and Hurley tying up loose ends
left from Jacob’s era of the island. It includes explanations about the polar
bears and the Dharma food drops. Plus we get one last glimpse of Dr. Chang, who
shows up in a Hydra station orientation video, and, most touchingly, of Walt,
who’s chilling in Hurley’s old mental institution.
Both DVD releases also contain a bundle of bonus material,
including a featurette on the making of the final season. (Watch Jorge "Hurley" Garcia read the final script and cry!) Meanwhile, the
massive, $280 Complete Collection comes with
a version of the Senet game that Jacob and the Man in Black played as children.
Oh, and also a blacklight. Which can be used to find hidden clues printed on the DVD’s packaging.
We were wrong. This story’s never gonna end…
