As tends to happen when any major comics flick hits, your friends are due to start asking you endless questions. Lucky for you, it's Comic Book Day. Here are our recommendations for refresher reading on the green guardian:

Compared to other planets, Earth has had an oddly large number of Green Lanterns (Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, John Stewart). Even so, this summer is all about Hal Jordan. Getting to know the modern Hal begins with the post-Crisis origin update Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn. After that Hal had a few problems: he turned evil, died, became The Spectre, yadda-yadda. If you want to skip to the beginning of the end of the new beginning, grab Geoff Johns' Green Lantern: Rebirth. That leads you (eventually) to Blackest Night, which will get you pretty close to up to date on Hal Jordan’s epic travails. Granted, that much Hal history might have your brain swelling to Guardian-size; but it'll shrink again when you drop all that Corps science on your clueless pals. Plus, while the movies probably won’t get to this material for at least 20 years, it’s still good readin’.
