Meet The Dudesons

Introducing Finland’s most notorious daredevils and heirs to the Jackass throne

Before tonight’s premiere of The Dudesons in America on MTV, get to know the four Nordic nutbags who’ve teamed with Johnny Knoxville to bring the pain.

Give us a quick introduction to each Dudeson.
Jukka Dudeson (right): Jarppi is the funny fat guy with only one thumb because he wrestled a bear once and the bear bit it off.  Jarno is the brains who comes up with crazy ideas and films them. HP is the sensitive guy and always worried about his stunts.
Jarppi Dudeson (center): Jukka is the ladies man of the bunch. He’s also really hard to keep up with—well, for a chubby guy like me.

How is your MTV show going to one-up the stuff you did in Finland?
Jukka: We always had these big ideas in Finland but never the budget to do them. Like they say, America is the land of opportunity. We’ve got Johnny Knoxville producing this and he’s opened up all kinds of doors. Plus, our MTV budget is way bigger, so that’s trouble.

Why is that trouble?
Jukka: We’ve been doing our biggest stunts ever, and that’s led to lots of injuries.
Jarppi: Out of eight episodes we’ve ended up in the hospital five times. I broke my back in a car stunt on the fourth day of shooting and have been in a brace ever since.
Jukka: Jarno broke his ribs the second day and I busted my ankle and tailbone on day six. We had a really strong start.

What’s the worst injury of the season?
Jukka: For me, it’s when I was standing on top of a 30-foot tower that Jarppi ran over with a tank.
Jarppi: A full-sized Army tank. The ones they conquer countries with.
Jukka: We had about 15 gallons of gasoline on it too, which we blew up while I was on top of the building. The flames were huge and totally engulfed me. I ended up with second-degree burns on my face and my eyes swelled shut. I looked like Freddy Krueger.
Jarppi: After Jukka burned his face, I got to experience how it feels to be the pretty boy of the bunch. For a little while, at least.

Did you discover the American dream during your time here?
Jarppi: The American dream to me has always been to come here and do even more stupid crap than we did back home.
Jukka: We also do really American stunts. Like, in one episode we try to become honorary members of an Indian tribe. In another we try to become astronauts. We go through Dudesons-style astronaut training and try to launch our own space rocket to Youranus.
