Geek This Week: Gods and Muppets

Also: doses of dungeons, dragons and Da Vinci

MOVIESYe Gods! - Tarsem Singh, known for making R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion" video, directs the 3-D feature Immortals, in which the Greek gods are under attack from Mickey Rourke and some titans. Lucky for the deities, they have a trump card in Superman, er, Theseus (Henry Cavill), who is humanity's greatest champion. Still, we don't know if they can do it. Oh no, we've said to much. We haven't said enough.

GAMESSky's the Limit - The fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series, Skyrim comes out tonight at midnight, and with it a massive new open world that can generate infinite amounts of quests and enemies. Kind of like the mall parking lot will be in a couple of weeks. Except there, you won't be allowed to cut people's heads off. This is why games are better than life.

TOYSRenaissance Toy - NECA Toys aren't usually known for making vehicles, but the success of their Assassin's Creed line has emboldened them to make a two-foot wide Da Vinci flying machine from the game, in scale with their action figures. Bonus: add their toy of Bruce Willis from Sin City, and you can reenact Hudson Hawk.

TVTrading Places - Eddie Murphy's out as host of the Oscars, having resigned after Brett Ratner got in trouble for being Brett Ratner. So who will ensure that the Academy Awards ceremony plays the music and lights the lights? We've always known that holding a difficult show full of unruly characters together was done best by the Muppets. And since we think longtime writer Bruce Vilanch actually is part-Muppet, he might be able to pull some strings.
