The Ten Best Toys of 2011

  • #1. Hot Toys Christopher Reeve Superman. We believe a toy can make our hearts fly.

  • #2. 18" Predator by NECA. Most companies don't make 'em like this any more.

  • #3. Transformers: Dark of the Moon Ultimate Optimus Prime. Finally, after decades of just disappearing, the trailer makes itself useful.

  • #4. Masters of the Universe Classics Wind Raider. The online-only collector's line was never expected to do well enough to support a vehicle, but the fans finally demanded it. Anchors aweigh!

  • #5. WWE Defining Moments Bret "Hit Man" Hart. He's been made into a toy many times before, but it's safe to say this deluxe version is the best there is, was, or ever will be.

  • #6. The Walking Dead Plush Zombie. While there were some grim and grittily realistic figures, we're partial to these cuties and their decapitation action.

  • #7. Green Lantern vs. Parallax. The best action feature of the year - squeeze Parallax's trigger to make his ribcage bust open so that a claw comes out which grabs a figure and sucks him back inside those yellow innards. The sculpt may not be collector-grade, but the play-action is plain good fun.

  • #8. Comic-Con Exclusive Classic Lion-O from Thundercats. Bandai promptly retired the 8" scale after just two figures, but this still remains the best and most posable '80s-style Lion-O ever made.

  • #9. Lieutenant Jim Gordon. With Gary Oldman finally immortalized in plastic, the customizing possibilities are endlessly disturbing. Keep him away from any figures of Padme Amidala...

  • #10. Presidential Monsters. These bipartisan beastifications will secretly help you turn your policy-wonk friends into toy collectors before they realize it.
